Bb Major Diatonic Scale (Guitar) + Jam Session 112k

The Scale of the Day is Bb major diatonic for the guitar.  You can also think of it as the Bb Ionian mode:

Chords for Jam Session 112k:  F Fsus2 Eb Ebsus2 Bb

Jam Session Notes:  You can check out the original show notes here.

Jam Session Serving Suggestions:  The F Mixolydian mode (F G A Bb C D Eb), shown in the original show notes, is an aspect of the Bb major diatonic scale (Bb C D Eb F G A), pictured above.  In other words, they both contain the same notes, but the order is altered depending on the root note.

Bb Chord (Guitar) + Jam Session 112h

The Chord of the Day is Bb major for the guitar, on the 6th fret:

Chords for Jam Session 112h:  F C G Bb F C G

Jam Session Notes:  Check out the original show notes here.

Jam Session Serving Suggestions:  If you're recording on a computer, make sure you have lots of hard drive space (preferably a dedicated, non-system drive), lots of RAM, fast processor(s)/(cores), a stable operating system, (mostly) bug-free recording software, and a compatible hardware interface (USB or FireWire or fancy card[s] you have to install).  Unless it is built to your custom specifications, you don't want to trust your computer's default sound card.

Eb Mixolydian Mode (Guitar) + Jam Session 112j

The Mode of the Day is Eb Mixolydian for the guitar:

Chords for Jam Session 112j:  Fm Ebsus2 Ab

Jam Session Notes:  See original show notes here.

Jam Session Serving Suggestions:  When improvising a solo, believe/pretend that your instrument is actually saying something.  Imagine your instrument saying words and phrases and sentences, instead of just playing patterns or random notes within a scale.  See where that takes your jam sessions!

A |-8---------11--------|-8------10-8--10----|---------------------|
E |-----------9---------|-6------8-----8-----|---------------------|

Jam Session Serving Suggestions:

If you're using a digital audio workstation to record your own jam sessions (and songs), a MIDI controller will help with playing virtual instruments (like a keyboard) and to trigger samples and patterns.  More keys, knobs, buttons, and sliders will give you more options - and possibly more complications (at first). Remember to get a decent keyboard stand, too.
